That was something that we set up when we were building the site on Dreamhost prior to cutting off services with our old webhoster, and it appears that some of you bookmarked pages with the mirror’s address rather than the regular site address. We’re planning on discontinuing the mirror in the near future, so in a few weeks those addresses won’t work anymore.

Take a moment to check and see if you’re coming in via rhiana-griffith.com, or rhiana-griffith.dreamhosters.com — if you’re using a bookmark or link with the second version, now’s the time to change it to the first.  Our webmistress plans to delete the mirror on September 1, so you have a month and a half to make any changes you need to.  Thanks!

So you had to make do with wistfully admiring them and wishing if only there were some way they could magically be on your walls. Well, Rhiana’s been busy lately, and one of her latest ventures is something that might just result in you having your very own, and very personal work of Rhiana art in your home at last!

Check out FLYBABY art, which just went live! In one of the best baby-art ideas since Anne Geddes did her Down in the Garden collections, Rhiana has launched a site where she is taking commissions to turn your baby pictures (and pet pictures, and expecting-mum pictures!) into fantasy portraits that you can hang on your wall, wear on a shirt, and use in a variety of other really cool ways.

And, as we said, this is something you can commission for yourself!

So take a look around the site and check out Rhiana’s designs in the gallery — and if you can’t see her in Poppy’s face, we’ll be amazed — and give a little thought to what kind of picture you might want to commission. Do you have a child whose inner dragon-fighter needs to be revealed? A baby whose secret identity as queen of the butterflies should be spotlit? Or a beloved pet who needs to return to watch over you as an angel above your mantle? The possibilities are endless!

Those of us who have been rooting for her have been wondering why that might be, but now our question has been answered! Intrepid co-admin Shalimar found a wonderful article that went up just about a month and a half ago… and our leading lady has been raising her first child!

From the sound of it, we’ve missed out on a number of commercials that Rhiana’s appeared in, and hopefully at some point we can find a way to snag some of them for her fans outside of Australia to see.  At the moment, it looks like Rhiana is concentrating on the artistic portion of her career since she can do it in conjunction with raising her baby.  But it also sounds like she intends to keep going with her acting career as well, so we’ll see her back on our screens again in the future.

In the meantime, congratulations and best wishes, Rhiana, from all of us at the RGFC!

The show has actually been running for the last four days or so (its opening was on the 4th), but the real prize is the Meet the Artist event this weekend!  Rhiana will be at the gallery between 2 and 4 pm on Saturday, August 14.

The Sydney Museum of Contemporary Art had its 15th Birthday Party on November 9, 2006, launching its 2007 season, and Rhiana was one of the celebrity attendees snapped by photographers! It’s a lovely shot of our girl, whose own exhibition, Le Cirque du Perdu, has now completed its run in the Tighes Hill Gallery and the Gaffa Gallery.
